Fire Emblem if: trailer, info, and more

Today, Nintendo showcased the new Fire Emblem game on Nintendo 3DS (called Fire Emblem if in Japan) during the latest Nintendo Direct presentation. The customisable character is back (MyUnit), but this time around, there’s two major paths to chose from in the game, and once you’ve made your choice, you can’t go back.

The two paths have their own story and character, and are:

– Hoshido, for a more traditional experience
– Nohr, with a more complex story and increased difficulty.

The main characters (your avatar) are Dragonkin Shapeshifters, who are traitors to Nohr on the Hoshino storyline, and enemy to Hoshido on the Nohr storyline.

In Japan, the game gets two versions for each storyline. The second storyline is then sold as DLC for a reduced price, and there’s also a third storyline as DLC too. There will be a special edition including all three storylines, an artbook, TCG cards and more. If you buy the game on the Nintendo eShop, the game is the same until Chapter 6: then, you have to make a choice and pick up a storyline.

Fire Emblem if has some major changes regarding gameplay: enemy units can now pair up against you, maps are dynamic (you can interact with them ) and bigger.

Here’s some screencaps from the Japanese official website:

But that’s not all: the official Trading Card Game will also be launched on June 25th in Japan. There’ll be two packs:

– Starter Pack, which costs 1 300 Yen (includes 50 cards)
– Booster Pack, which costs 350 Yen (includes 10 cards).

Here’s some of the cards:
