Valfaris

Earlier this week, Digital Uppercut announced Valfaris (a heavy metal action-platformer by team behind Slain: Back From Hell) for the Nintendo Switch. It will be released in 2019.

Here’s some details and screenshots:

Valfaris is a heavy metal infused 2D action-platformer and the next game from the team behind Unity Awards finalist, Slain: Back From Hell. Brutal combat. Deadly enemies. Stunning pixel art. Savage soundtrack. Get ready to rip the galaxy a new wormhole!

After mysteriously vanishing from galactic charts, the fortress of Valfaris has suddenly reappeared in the orbit of a dying sun. Once a self-contained paradise, the grandiose citadel now plays host to an ever-growing darkness. Therion, a fearless and proud son of Valfaris, returns to his home to uncover the truth of its doomed fate and to challenge the arcane evil at its very heart.

  • Skulls in space! Gore in space! Metal in space!
  • Savagely reduce foes to piles of gibs with an array of brutal weaponry
  • Explore a diverse range of tainted environments as you venture ever deeper into the dark world of Valfaris
  • Dominate ranks of deadly enemies and bosses, from the weird to the grotesque (and some that are just grotesquely weird)
  • Gorge your eyes on devastatingly awesome pixel art hand-crafted by Andrew Gilmour
  • Feel the power of a seismic soundtrack by extreme metaller and former Celtic Frost guitarist, Curt Victor Bryant
  • Forged from the ground-up by the team behind cult hit Slain: Back From Hell

Valfaris (Switch – eShop) comes out next year in Europe and North America. The Upcoming Games page has been updated!

Bad North

Bad North was finally released this very week, completely out of the blue. Unfortunately, it looks like the viking ships were carrying some nasty glitches alongside their regular passengers. A Software update is already in the works, and should be available soon. You can read more about the various glitches found, as well as possible workarounds for them, on the official website!

InkyPen

Earlier this week, InkyPen was announced for the Nintendo Switch: it’s not a game, but a subscription service giving access to comic books and graphic novels. Here’s a trailer and some details:

InkyPen is a brand new subscription service for Nintendo Switch, and the first world wide media application on this console. It allows comic book and graphic novel fans to read what they want, when they want. Simply download from the Nintendo eShop, subscribe and start reading.

A large catalogue of graphic novels and comics will be available from all over the world, including U.S. comic books, manga and European comics. You can read your favorite titles on Nintendo Switch in handheld mode or in TV mode, but also discover new ones through exploring the catalogue and content suggestions based on your interests.

The subscription-based service gives users access to the full catalogue for 7.99€ / 7.99$ a month. Titles included will come from famous publishers like IDW, Valiant, Dynamite, les Humanoïdes Associés, Titan or Andrews McMeel; more publishers will be announced soon. Some of the comic series that will be available from the beginning are: Transformers, Judge Dredd, Dungeons and Dragons, The Metabarons, Warhammer; and others based on well-known video game franchises like Dark Souls, Dishonored or Assassin’s Creed. Inkypen will also be “webcomic friendly”: its catalogue will include popular webcomic titles like Girl Genius or The Wormworld Saga.

InkyPen (Switch – eShop) will be launched in November in Europe and North America. The Upcoming Games page has been updated!

Senran Kagura Reflexions

Earlier this week, XSEED Games shared some details about the North American release of Senran Kagura Reflexions. DLC characters are as follows: Yumi (available at launch), Murasaki, Ryōna, and Yomi (releasing in the following weeks).

A.N.N.E.

The latest Kickstarter update for A.N.N.E. reveals that the Wii U version of the game has been cancelled in favour of a Nintendo Switch version.
