Dragon Quest VIII: latest batch of screenshots showcase the Camera Mode

Dragon Quest VIII

A few days ago, we learned from Jump magazine that Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King on Nintendo 3DS would include a brand new feature called “Camera Mode”. Quite obviously, it allows the player to take pictures of the game, let it be of the scenery or the characters in your party.

And as mentionned previously, you access the menu for this mode simply by pressing the Start button during gameplay. All pictures are saved to the SD Card, which means you can then transfer them to your PC and share your shots with your friends via the internet (on top of Miiverse).

Early in the adventure, you will meet an NPC called Photographer Fort, who will give you his notebook of quests. Those mainly consist in taking pictures of rare monsters / items, or specific landscapes in the game. You will get stamps for completing the quests, and quite logically, some of them will net you more stamps than others.

Here’s the latest batch of screenshots for Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King on Nintendo 3DS:

Finally, one interesting tidbit about this Nintendo 3DS version of the game: Cygames is co-developing it with Square-Enix. Considering the company is also responsible for Dragon Quest Monster Super Light (a very successful game on smartphones), its involvement isn’t really all that surprising!

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King (3DS) comes out on August 27th in Japan.
