Kill la Kill -IF-

Arc System Works have revealed that Matoi Ryuko has her very own scenario in the Story Mode of Kill la Kill -IF-. To unlock it, you first need to clear Satsuki’s story (where Junketsu Shinzui, the final form of the Kamui Junketsu, appears). Both are an entirely original story, supervised by Kazuki Nakashima (scenario writer of the anime series).

Here’s some details and screenshots:

Clearing Satsuki’s story mode will unlock Matoi Ryuko’s own scenario! Of course, like Satsuki’s scenario, this is an original creation. Play the adventure again with Ryuko as the main character and discover her side of the IF story!

After Ryuko is defeated by Satsuki, Nui appears before her. Now determined to become stronger, is Ryuko really going to ask Nui to train her!? And what about the secret of the Original Life Fiber that was not revealed in the original series? Come and experience the second IF story, intertwined with Satsuki’s scenario!

Kill la Kill -IF- (Switch) comes out on July 25th in Japan, and July 26th in Europe and North America.

BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle

Arc System Works have announced that the major Software update for BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle (Ver. 1.5.0), which was announced a few months ago, will be released on May 21st worldwide. On the same day, the latest Character Set will be released, bringing more DLC characters to the game: Naoto, Teddie, Seth and Heart (which were all previously announced). The set will be available for purchase separately (for 9.99€ / $9.99), but if you own the Deluxe Edition or the All-in-One Pack, you will get them all for free.

Castlevania @ shmuplations

The latest translation from shmuplations is about the original Castlevania trilogy (on the NES), but it isn’t your usual magazine interview… instead, it’s a series of tweets from a developers that was mentored by Hitoshi Akamatsu (creator of the Castlevania series and Director of the games), as well as commentary from an anonymous (yet credible) source!

Here’s an excerpt:

I once asked him about the fight with Death, and how insanely hard it was. He told me, “The game design idea there was to get players to understand how to use the cross and axe subweapons. If you can defeat with only the whip, that means you’re really good.” I can’t defeat him with the whip alone. But if you read the movements of the sickles, I understand it is possible (albeit very difficult) to beat him with just the whip. Apparently the test players were able to do it.
I think he wanted anyone to clear be able to clear his games, because he told me his standard for difficulty was that he should be able to clear it himself.
