The Alliance Alive: more details (world, characters, battles), screens, soundtrack previews

Yesterday, FuRyu uploaded the very first trailer for The Alliance Alive, its new JRPG for the Nintendo 3DS. At the same time, the publisher opened the official website, providing us with even more details about the game, and more precisely its world, characters, battles, and more. We even get two soundtrack previews!

Let’s start with those two previews:

Next, we have some details about the story.

It all starts thousands of years before the events of the game, when beings known as Asmodians came and invaded the world. Why did they even do that in the first place? Because of the Chaos Energy found in the game’s world, which threatens their own. In order to control it, they invaded, and then used a great (magical) barrier to contain it.

Unfortunately, this had a significant impact on the planet’s magnetic field, causing all sorts of cataclysms: the climate went berserk, and the once blue skies changed colour. What’s more, an ocean known as The Dark Chaos appeared as a result of those distortions, and ended up swallowing many cities. As a result, most of mankind perished, and those who did survive were left scattered (which is why they gave in to the Asmodians).

Several centuries after those catalysmic events, the world has been divided into several zones:

  • Rain World
  • Fire World
  • Prison World
  • and more…

The Asmodians dominate and rule the new society they built, and the new culture that was created. But there are still people who refuse to bend to them: they are members of a resistance group known as Night Crows.

The story of The Alliance Alive is told from the perspective of 9 characters, who are not of the same race: some of them are human, while others are Asmodians. One would think they would be opposed, but their story will eventually converge as you progress through the game.

Here’s more details about the characters (along with their official names):

  • Galil (Human, Male, 15yo): a member of the resistance (called Night Crows). A gentle but passionate young man who’s under the thumb of Ursula (his childhood friend);
  • Ursula (Human, Female, 15yo): another member of the Night Crows. A blond-haired girl with a refreshing personality. She may look sweet on the outside, but she never reveals her true intentions, and she is always manipulating Garyl;
  • Barbarosa (Monster, Make, 36yo): another member of the Night Crows. A ghost soldier who has sworn loyalty to Ursula’s father (Wyatt), who once saved his life. Due to his diligency and physical strength, the group has deep trust in him;
  • Viviana (Asmodian, Female, “20yo”): she’s the daughter of an Asmodian noble. Unsurprisingly for a historian, she’s always pretty calm, and she has a keen interest in the human world. Sometimes, she becomes so engrossed in her research that she forgets to eat and sleep;
  • Ignace (Asmodia, Male, “25”): another Asmodian, and Viviana’s very own butler. He values discipline and class above all else. He’s pretty loyal, and would not hesitate one second to sacrifice himself for Viviana;
  • Rachel (Human, Female, 18yo): a mercenary, hired by the Magic Guild. She’s described as a really kind person, who always do something as soon as it comes to mind. She frequently argues with Gene, as their way of thinking really are clashing;
  • Renzo (Human, Male, 19yo): another member of the Night Crows. A well-informed young man with good hearing, known as “Insider Renzo”. He’s generally pretty optimistic, but also surprisingly composed. He just loves gossip;
  • Gene (Human, Male, 27yo): a magic user, member of the magic guild, and subordinate of the Asmodians. He always makes sure to look at things from a wide perspective. Unlike Rachel, he doesn’t act impulsively. Even the Asmodians have come to acknowledge his knowledge and well-spokenness;
  • Tiggy (Human, Female, 12yo): a self-proclaimed professor, known for various inventions. She’s apparently researching the Dark Chaos. She uses a power suite called Swan Song in battle.

Finally, some more details about the battle system: it apparently emphasises tempo. It also features an option to speed up battles (up to x4).
