Yo-kai Watch 4: latest details from the official website (Battles, Yo-kai, more) + Yo-kai Watch! key visual
This month again, Level-5 updated the official website for Yo-kai Watch 4, sharing some additional details about the game. This time, the focus is on battles, a really useful specter dog, Yo-kai, and more!
Yo-kai Watch 4 – Battles
As you already know if you’ve read previous reports about the game, Keita / Nate gets to take part in battle as a “Watcher”, just like the other playable characters. He fights alongside Yo-kai on the battlefield, instead of simply giving out orders from afar.
But what does fighting as a Watcher entails? One of the key aspects of the battle system is something called “Youki” in Japanese: some sort of spiritual energy than you can use as human to attack your opponents, but also to support your Yo-kai using support and recovery skills.
Here’s some examples:
- you can use a beam-like power to strengthen allies
- you can use energy bullets to attack opponents from afar
- you can heal your Yo-kai with a green beam
- you can attack multiple opponents at once using a red spiral beam
And those are just a few examples…
As mentioned previously, Sakura New Town / Springdale can be explored in this game, allowing you to re-discover it thanks to the vastly improved graphics.
Yo-kai Watch 4 – Characters
A recent video for the game, showcasing the World Hobby Fair ’19 Winter demo, revealed a new “character” called Naviwan (lit. Navidog). Should you ever get lost, this spectral pup will help your find way. It’s a mysterious dog that appears out of nowhere, and behaves just like a normal dog would… yes, it does wag its tail!
Yo-kai Watch 4 – Yo-kai
In each of the 3 worlds, you will find very different Yo-kai. Today, several ones were revealed:
- Keita / Nate’s world: Shirokuma (a pun on “Kuma”, Bear in Japanese, and “Akuma”, Demon in Japanese). It’s a teddybear-like Yo-kai that possesses babies, and make them behave like real little demons (not literally, of course);
- Natsume’s world:
- Uribou (Lightside): a wild boar Yo-kai, that also happens to be the guardian of a mountain. It really likes to play around in the mountain with other animals, which is why it tries to hide its role as guardian;
- Inosasaou (Shadowside): all animals bow down to it.
- Shin’s world: Gyuuki. A brutal Yo-kai, half-rampaging bull and half-poisonous spider. It uses the poison on its horns and legs to poison its preys, before devouring them.
