Yo-kai Watch 4 delayed to Spring 2019 in Japan

It’s now been several months that Yo-kai Watch 4 has been announced for the Nintendo Switch, but we still do not know much about it. This was starting to get rather worrying, because the game was still officially slated for a Winter 2018 release in Japan, presumably in December to tie in with the latest Yo-kai Watch movie.

However, the latest issue of CoroCoro magazine reveals that Yo-kai Watch 4 has been delayed to 2019. If the game is not further delayed, then it will hit stores sometime in Spring 2019 (most likely in April, just in time for the Golden Week).

This should come as no surprise to anyone who has been following the game since its announcement, as the writing has been on the wall for some time now. As mentioned above, the lack of details about the game itself was quite worrying for a game slated for a 2018 release. Since April, all we got was some details about the characters, and some tidbits about the battle system, with a grand total of 2 screenshots.

What’s more, players who had the opportunity to try out the game at the Tokyo Game Show reported that the game was running rather poorly, which was a sign the game was not really in a releasable state. In the end, Level-5 took the safe decision to delay the game, and avoid rushing it to market, which would only hurt the game and the series’ sales potential (console transitions are never simple, after all, so you have to make sure the game is of top-notch quality if you don’t want to alienate your fanbase).

Unfortunately, that’s all we know about the delay for now. Stay tuned for more details coming soon, within the next few days.
