Wolfenstein: Youngblood releasing on July 26th

Bethesda have announced that Wolfenstein: Youngblood will be released on July 26th in Europe and North America. This time around, there’s no delay for Nintendo Switch owners: their versions of the game will launch simultaneously with all other platforms.

Here’s a trailer:

Wolfenstein: Youngblood is set in 80s Nazi-occupied Paris, and is entirely played in co-op (either with an AI or a friend). If you get the Deluxe Edition, then you get the Buddy Pass: it allows you to play with a friend even if they don’t own the game, and allows them to download and play the game for free.

Sounds too good to be true? Not quite! There’s actually a catch: the Buddy Pass can only be provided to one friend at a time, though it can be reused as many times as you want. What’s more, your friends will need to uprade to the full game if they want to play on their own or with other players.

Here’s what the story is all about:

Jess and Soph Blazkowicz will stop at nothing to find their father, and that includes taking on the Nazi forces in Paris, France. Establish your home base deep in the Parisian Catacombs and tackle missions in any order you want. Team up with a friend or play with an AI companion and obliterate the Nazi regime.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood takes places 19 years after the events of Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. A lot has changed in the two decades since BJ Blazkowicz kick-started the American revolution. In Wolfenstein: Youngblood, it’s up to BJ’s twin daughters to fight back against a Nazi-occupied Paris as they search for their missing father.

The game features some RPG elements: you can level up your character, and unlock new abilities, weapons, attachments, gadgets, cosmetics, and more. And when it comes to mutilating nazis, you will be able to do so with the updated and improved New Colossus weapons like the Dieselkraftwerk, Shockhammer (now called the Kugelgewehr), Laserkraftwerk and more. The iconic Maschinepistole and the devastatingly powerful Elektrokraftwerk are also back!

Wolfestein: Youngblood is being developed by two studios: MachineGames and Arkane Studios. Of course, it’s Panic Button that was tasked with bringing the game to the Nintendo Switch! It will be available in two editions:

  • regular ($29.99), only available digitally in Europe and Australia/New Zealand
  • Deluxe Edition ($39.99)
    • Buddy Pass
    • Cyborg Skin Pack
      • Cyborg player skin
      • Titanium alloy skins for all weapons
      • Titanium alloy hatchet
      • Titanium alloy knife
      • Armor-boosting pep signal

Finally, here’s the list of pre-order bonuses for the game:

  • The Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus Jacket Power Suit
  • BJ’s US Army Power Suit
  • The Wolfenstein: Old Blood Pipe
  • The Wolfenstein: Old Blood Knife
  • A WW2 Weapon Skin Set for all ranged weapons
