Wii U: Nintendo aware of issues with the download of the latest firmware update (Fixed)

Update

Nintendo just sent a message on Twitter to announce that the problem has been solved.

Yesterday, Nintendo released a brand new Firmware update for the Wii U, the first one since December 5th, last year. Unfortunately, despite the long wait, there was no major feature in Ver. 5.4.0, and the only noticeable changes involve the TVii Icon (removed in Europe) and the internet browser.

But it looks like this new Firmware update is causing some issues. Apparently, some users are having trouble downloading it, and keep getting a 108-0065 error. According to Nintendo of America’s support website, this code is displayed when:

    • The update stopped and the error message “Unable to connect to server” was received.
  • May occur if a system update, game update, or Nintendo eShop download timed out.

Nintendo sent a message on Twitter a few minutes ago, confirming they were aware of the issue (which most likely comes from their servers). They apologised for the inconvenience, and asked users to wait until the issue is fixed. That being said, the message was only sent on the Japanese account (so far), which means the issue might only impact Japanese Wii U Consoles.

If you’re experiencing this issue, you don’t have to worry: your internet connection is most likely fine. Just wait until the issue is fixed before trying again. If automatic downloads are activated, you most likely won’t have to do anything.
