The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Retrospective – Episode 1
Today, Nintendo uploaded the first episode of a video series called The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Retrospective. It looks back at the development of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on GameCube and Wii. In this first episode, the following developers get to say something about the game:
- Eiji Aonuma
- Yoshiyuki Oyama (Enemy Design)
- Koji Kitagawa (Dungeon Design)
- Aya Kyogoku (Script)
The first episode covers quite a few topics, including:
- the first trailer at E3 2004, and how the positive reaction really motivated the team;
- the various art styles of The Legend of Zelda series, and fans’ desire to see a comeback of the realistic art style;
- the team always being under pressure, without much time;
- Midna clues, and how the developers actually played through the games several times, and noted any area the players might struggle with in order to write proper and useful clues;
- the amount of puzzles and dungeons in the game;
- the various enemies;
- Link being able to ride Epona and use his sword at the same time;
- the infamous “sob-story mail”, which are feedback emails sent by Shigeru Miyamoto;
- positive fan reception after launch, with players really liking the new characters (such as Midna).

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD (Wii U) comes out on March 4th in Europe and North America, and March 10th in Japan.
