TASaturday #19 – The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Nintendo 64)

For the TASaturday #19, we picked up one of the most famous games ever released on a Nintendo console, one that might be described as Legendary… that’s right, it’s The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, on the Nintendo 64! The reason we picked… wait a minute, didn’t we already say all that last week when we showcased the any% run of the game? Yup, we sure did!

1This week, we’re showcasing a totally different Tool Assisted Speedrun for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, one that goes through all the dungeons of the game (including the trials in Ganon’s Castle). It’s definitely as entertaining as the any% one, if not even more: you get to see even more tricks and other impressive feats, as the whole run lasts over 2 hours!

This kind of “long run” is one of the areas where TAS shine the brightest: they usually involve lots of careful planning, in order to complete the game as fast as possible. Unlike the any% run, which focuses on getting to the area with the major skip glitch, this “complete” one forces the player to go through lots of mandatory areas.

Of course, this “restriction” isn’t really one for the TASer, who still found plenty of way to “cheat” behind the game’s back, by doing things the player isn’t supposed to do, reaching areas otherwise unreachable, and more.

Without further ado, here’s the “MST” run for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (on the Nintendo 64), by Swordless Link!

We hope you enjoyed this TASaturday #19. See you next week!
