PokéNews (Dec. 7, Round 2): Pokémon Sun and Moon sales (Australia) / Pokémon GO

Today’s Pokémon News (Round 2!): Pokémon Sun and Moon also breaking sales record in Australia, but also…

  • Pokémon GO
  • Pokémon Center
  • Pokémon Story Book
  • Pokémon Ga-Olé

Pokémon Sun and Moon

Last week, Nintendo announced that Pokémon Sun and Moon broke sales record in Europe and North America (but not in Japan, unfortunately). And it turns out there’s another region where records were broken: Australia, where Pokémon Sun and Moon became the fastest-selling Nintendo game of all times.

Both versions ended up selling over 240 000 units in less than two weeks, which is a 67% increase over Pokémon Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire (released in November 2014), which used to be the fastest-selling Nintendo game of all times before Pokémon Sun and Moon came and “stole” that title.

Pokémon GO

Tomorrow, Niantic is expected to announce a major sponsorship with Starbucks (along with something involving some “new” Pokémon…). But before that, another sponsorship was announced for Japan: it’s with the Aeon Group. As a result, all 3500+ stores from the group will become either PokéStops or Gyms:

  • 2 983 stores will be PokéStops
  • 415 stores will be Gyms
  • there will be 100 stores as PokéStops in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Combodia, and Indonesia.
