PokéNews (Nov. 30, Round 2) – Pokémon Sun and Moon sales / Meloetta distribution (EU)

Today’s Pokémon news… Round 2: Pokémon Sun and Moon sold over 1.5 million units during launch week in Europe, but also…

Pokémon Sun and Moon

Last week, we got the very first sales data for Pokémon Sun and Moon, straight from Japan (where the game sold slightly less / more than Pokémon X and Y, depending on the tracker). Unfortunately, Nintendo still hasn’t shared any global data, so we don’t know how many of the 10 million units shipped for launch have been sold.

But today, Nintendo sent a press release to announce that Pokémon Sun and Moon have sold over 1.5 million units in Europe, during the first week. That’s a record not only for the Pokémon series, but also for Nintendo: this is the biggest launch of all time for a Nintendo game in Europe. In the United Kingdom, Pokémon Sun and Moon sold over 368 000 units.

In other words, the 7th generation is off to a fantastic start in two regions, and there’s no doubt Pokémon Sun and Moon had a great launch in North America. Unfortunately, we might have to wait until the NPD data in mid-December before getting concrete numbers.

Meloetta distribution

If you have a European copy of Pokémon X, Y, Omega Ruby, or Alpha Sapphire, you can now get Meloetta (the last Mythical Pokémon distribution for the 20th Anniversary of the Pokémon series). This time around, you do not have to go anywhere to get it: simply launch the game while being connected to the internet, and select Mystery Gift > Receive Gift > Get Via Internet.

The distribution will go live in the United States in a few hours. You have until December 24th to get your Meloetta.
