Today’s Pokémon GO news: more details about Trainer Battles, Delibird coming back for Christmas, Alolan and Shiny Sandhrew, new boxes, and more!

Pokémon GO – Trainer Battles

Niantic has shared more details about Trainer Battles, which are said to be coming “this month”. As mentioned previously, you sent three Pokémon to battle. But what we didn’t know is that there’s a time limit to each battle. If you don’t manage to completely knock out your opponent, it’s the players with the most KOs at the end of battle who wins.

By the way, the additional Charged Attack move you can unlock for your Pokémon using Candies and Stardust is unlocked permanently, you don’t have to do so for every battle. How you put to use that extra attack is up to you, but make sure to make it count! You can use it to either surprise your opponent, or cover your weaknesses for example.

Delibird

The latest newsletter reveals that this year’s Holiday event will once again feature Delibird. Unfortunately, that’s all we know for now!

Alolan and Shiny Sandhrew

In Japan, a special event/promotion has gone live in Tottori, as part of celebrations for Sandshrew being selected as mascot for the region. The following are now available in-game until December 19th:

  • Shiny Sandshrew in spawning in Tottori
  • Sandshrew is now spawning more frequently in that area
  • Alolan Sandshrew is now spawning in the game, seemingly for everyone

  • Special Box (480 Coins): – Incubator (x1), Lucky Egg (x2), Premium Raid Pass (x3), Star Piece (x2)
  • Great Box (780 Coins): Super Incubator (x3), Lucky Egg (x4), Premium Raid Pass (x4), Lure Module (x1)
  • Ultra Box (1480 Coins): Super Incubator (x8), Premium Raid Pass (x12), Pinap Berry (x6), Star Piece (x12)
