Today’s Nintendo Switch news: the Nintendo Switch to get accessories/add-ons, but also…

Nintendo Switch accessories/add-ons

In an interview with Bloomberg, Tatsumi Kimishima once again confirmed the obvious: what was shown in the preview trailer for the Nintendo Switch is not everything: there’s still a lot more to be revealed. He also explained that the Nintendo Switch would be part of a bigger “ecosystem”.

By that, he doesn’t mean that there will be variants of the Nintendo Switch, but that the console would get various accessories/add-ons:

It may be appropriate to call them accessories. Or it might be better to call them add-on hardware. It’s probably more correct to call them accessories. You can assume that there will be a wider array.

What those add-on will be like, what they will do, whether they will add new features to the console remains to be seen. It will be interesting to see if we’re going to get as many accessories as the Wii did, and if/when third-party will release theirs.

According to Tatsumi Kimishima, one of the reasons they haven’t revealed the line-up yet is because Nintendo wants to experience the games by themselves in the hands-on sessions planned for January. This most definitely isn’t the only one, but that’s all Kimishima said in the interview.

As for Virtual Reality, Kimishima gave more or less the same non-comittal non-anwer Nintendo has been giving for months:

VR offers new ways of playing, but that depends on what kind of software can be played. If you ask us whether there are any possibilities, we can’t say no. It may be that we will build VR software titles, I think that opportunity is available to us.
