Investor Briefing (Oct. 2016): Kimishima on the Nintendo Switch (23m views for the trailer, more)

During the usual meeting with investors, which always follows the presentation of the latest financial results, Nintendo talked about the Nintendo Switch. To be more precise, Tatsumi Kimishima talked about the extremely positive reception the preview trailer got.

He revealed that the trailer has already been viewed over 23 million times (as of October 26th). That number includes views for all the official Nintendo channels on YouTube, and it must be even higher if you include all the unofficial uploads (not to mention the umpteen analysis and/or reaction videos). What’s more, reaction from YouTube users has apparently been overwhelmingly positive, which is even better.

He then talked about the console itself, the many partners, but didn’t reveal anything really new. Click here for more details about the Nintendo Switch, and here for the list of confirmed games, developers, and publishers!

We did get one new tidbit: Nintendo is planning to ship two million units worldwide in March 2017. Unfortunately, he didn’t say how many units each region would get, when the console would launch (and whether it would be simultaneous launch or not), or anything concrete at all. In fact, nothing will be said before the Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017 in January (click here for more details).
