Nintendo Switch Online

As we get closer to September, Nintendo keeps sharing various details about its Nintendo Switch Online paid service on a not-really-regular basis. Yesterday, the company announced that it will launch in the second half of September. It was also confirmed that online will require a subscription right out of the gate: no trial period or anything (since the trial period is already running, until the full launch of the service).

Daemon x Machina

Following the video interview shared by Nintendo of America earlier this week, Nintendo of Europe has shared their own interview with Kenichiro Tsukuda. However, this one is in text form: no video this time!

Here’s an excerpt:

What sort of story are you looking to tell in the game?

The story is set after the moon has fallen and the world has changed. Your immediate enemy is AI (Artificial Intelligence). When the moon fell, mankind built walls called Ovals in order to limit the disaster. In order to rebuild, they made machinery and networks controlled by AI.

However, due to the power of energy particles called Femto that spread when the moon fell, the AI was mutated, and became an enemy of mankind called Arms of Immortal.

Meanwhile, powerful individuals emerged, wanting to monopolise the power of this new Femto energy, and so planned to drive the evil AI out from the Ovals. Some humans, known as Outers, obtained special powers from the Femto.

They’re hired as mercenaries by those powerful individuals and fight against the AI in Arsenals. The player character is one of these mercenaries, and will uncover the mysteries of the world.

Daemon x Machina (Switch) comes out in 2019 worldwide.

Nintendo Minute

Here’s the latest episode of Nintendo Minute, which is about Monopoly Gamer: Mario Kart!

Hi! Today we’re joined by two very special guests, Camille and Anthony, to play a rousing game of Monopoly Gamer: Mario Kart. This is similar to the original Monopoly Gamer but of course it’s all themed to Mario Kart. There’s a blue shell dice roll, bananas to drop and all sorts of Mario Kart elements woven into the game. It’s so much fun so we hope you give this a try with your friends. Please be nice and don’t send them to jail like what happened in our game. As always, we hope you enjoyed this video and we’ll see you next week!
