Monster Hunter XX: pictures and details for new characters, footage

If last week’s details, pictures, trailer, and footage for Monster Hunter XX (Double Cross) were not enough for you, no need to worry: there’s some more pictures and footage for you to check out! The new details focus on the characters you can find on the “Ryuushikisen” (lit. Dragon Airship), which is one of the new bases to be found in the game (located on some airships).

In that base, you can find the following characters:

  • Leader of the Research Team: he is the younger researcher ever to join the Wycademy. He’s the one who came up with the plans for the construction of the “Ryuushikisen”, which is described as the “Flying Laboratory”. He was appointed Captain of the Investigation Unit, and he’s pretty serious about completing his mission;
  • Cat Researcher: a Felyne who became a researcher, and one of the key members of the research team. He supports both the Leader of the research team and hunters. He considers the former as his younger brother, and simply cannot help worrying about him;
  • Receptionist: a young female student who also happens to be a researcher at the Wycademy. She’s described as pretty cheerful and full of motivation, but it looks like she often runs wild. She has deep respect for the two receptionists in Bherna;
  • Barmaster: she used to belong to the Hunter Guild and the Wycademy. After retiring, she used her money to refurbish an old airship, and transformed it into a gathering place for hunters. She’s said to appear and disappear suddenly, without warning;
  • Bartender / Receptionist: he used to be one of the barmaster’s fellow hunters, but he’s now both a bartender and a receptionist. He’s described as a rather courteous fellow, though not very talkative.

The Dragon Airship was showcased on Saturday, during a special livestream on NicoNico:

Finally, Capcom mentions the jungle: one of the areas to be found in the game. It’s place with lush forest and blue waters, where various creatures live (including some pretty dangerous monsters). There’s also some nice sandy beaches to be found in that area.

Here’s the pictures for the new characters and the jungle:

Finally, here’s some more gameplay footage for Monster Hunter XX:
