And here’s some screenshots:

Monster Hunter XX Nintendo Switch Ver. will be released on August 25th in Japan, where it will cost 5 800 Yen + taxes (5 546 Yen + taxes for the download version). There will also be a bundle including a Nintendo Switch with a special design (dock + main unit, though only the dock itself was shown) anda copy of the game, sold 36 280 Yen.

As for the game itself, it features some significantly upgrade graphics, though you can definitely it was originally released on the Nintendo 3DS. Resolution was bumped all the way to 1080p (when docked, 720p in Handheld mode)… quite the jump from the Nintendo 3DS and its 240p!

The game will offer some extra features, starting with the transfer of save data (via the internet):

  • from Monster Hunter X (just like in the Nintendo 3DS version. This is a one-way transfer! You will need a special app for the transfer)
  • from and to Monster Hunter XX on the Nintendo 3DS. You can basically play on whichever platform you want, and resume where you left off also on whichever platform you want. Start playing on Nintendo 3DS, then switch to Nintendo Switch, and back to Nintendo 3DS? Yes, you will be able to do that!

Naturally, Monster Hunter XX Nintendo Switch Ver. will be playable with up to 4 players online and locally, with one major twist: you can play online with players on Nintendo 3DS.

Also, Monster Hunter XX Nintendo Switch Ver. will be showcased during the finale of the Monster Hunter Championships 2017, on June 25th.

Note: August 25th is a Friday, which is not the usual release day for games in Japan (it’s either Thursday for most games, or Saturday for major releases like Monster Hunter or Dragon Quest). Friday is the usual day for worldwide releases on Nintendo Switch, so it’s likely (but NOT confirmed at this point) that Monster Hunter XX Nintendo Switch Ve. will get one, with an announcement at E3 2017.

Monster Hunter XX Nintendo Switch Ver. (Switch) will be released on August 25th in Japan. The Upcoming Releases page has been updated!
