Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 gets 2D events, release dates announced

SEGA have announced that Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 will be released on November 5th in North America, which is 3 days earlier than Europe where it will be released on November 8th (as announced earlier today by Nintendo). The release date for Japan remains to be announced.

But that’s not all: SEGA have also revealed a brand new type of events… Classic 2D events! As the name indicates, they sport a 2D artstyle (complete with retro sound effects), as you can see in the latest trailer revealed today:

In total, there will be 10 Classic 2D events:

  • 100m
  • 10m Platform (Diving)
  • 400m Hurdles
  • Gymnastics – Vault
  • Judo
  • Kayak Single (K-1) 1000m
  • Long Jump
  • Marathon
  • Shooting – Trap
  • Volleyball
