Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3: details and screens for the online features

Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3Yesterday, Square-Enix revealed the latest batch of details and screenshots for Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3. This time around, the focus is on the online features. First, we have Wi-Fi Ranking Battles: thanks to those, you will be able to battle against other players online, using the monsters you registered.

Everyday, and for a certain amount of time, two types of tournaments will be held (you can join them at any time):

  • Master GP: each player uses only their best monsters. Pretty much any monster in the game can participate in those tournaments.
  • Challenger GP: you can only use specific monsters, who fit specific criteria. You will need to think carefully about your strategy if you’re planning to compete in those.

Once each tournament is over, the final rankings are announced. Then the next day, the next set of tournaments starts.

Next, there’s Wi-Fi Ranking Battles. In order to participate in those, you need some tickets: 10 are distributed each week. Ranking Battles are randomised battles against players from across Japan, and they have you take part in three matches. You can chose the level of the players you battle: naturally, the stronger they are, the more points you will get. The rankings are announced at the end of each tournament, and are updated every day.

Good news for players who want to shorten the duration of battles: Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3 will have an auto-battle feature.

Next, Square-Enix gives some more details about riding. It turns out you can not only ride monsters when in the field, you can also do so while in battle. If you synch up with your monster, you can considerably increase its abilities, and there are some techniques that can only be used if you’re riding one.

Finally, there’s Coin Exchange: when you battle online, you get some coins as reward (those can be used to buy accessories and monsters). There’s several ways to get some:

  • simply participating
  • getting first rank
  • and more…

Finally, here’s the latest batch of screenshots (and a scan) for Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3:
