Dai Gyakuten Saiban: Shu Takumi’s tweets, first 45 minutes of the game

Last week, Shu Takumi (Director, creator of the Ace Attorney series) posted quite a lot of tweets about Dai Gyakuten Saiban: Naruhodou Ryuunosuke no Bouken. Thanks to the good folks over at Court Records, we have a translation for each of them!

Dai Gyakuten Saiban

Shu Takumi started by explaining that it’s been almost 2 years since he started working on Dai Gyakuten Saiban: Naruhodou Ryuunosuke no Bouken, and it’s almost complete… at least, his part is! He notes that it’s been over 7 months since he last posted on Twitter, and it kind of looks like he passed out and suddenly woke up the other day.

Of course, it’s an exaggeration, but he has been so busy with the development of the game that time has flown by in a flash for him. A lot happened during development, but it’s finally coming to an end. For him, it feels like it’s finally the new year, so he wishes us all a Happy New Year… 5 months late!

It’s now been 20 years since he joined Capcom, and he joked about it, saying it feels like he passed out right after the entrance ceremony, only to wake up the other day. He’s very grateful to the fans, thanks to whom he was able to make a new game.

He explains that even if he’s been doing that job for over 20 years, he’s not quite used to all this. He doesn’t simply go into the office, create a masterpiece, and then call it a day. The reality is quite different: lots of things never go according to plans, his shoulders still hurt, and the sense of freedom he feels every time he finishes a game is kind of like a spell that resets his memory.

While going back home after work, he stopped at a game store. There, he saw posters for Dai Gyakuten Saiban: Naruhodou Ryuunosuke no Bouken, on which were written the words “Pre-orders open!”. Here’s the picture he tweeted:

It made him realise that things have been moving in the world without his knowing… looks like he isn’t directly involved in the promotion of the game! He explained that right now, the team is quite busy with the production of the Limited Editions. Apparently, they’re having quite a lot of fun with the prototypes and samples for the various goodies.

He invited fans to pre-order the game, and explained that pre-orders were actually quite important for them (Capcom)… though he didn’t really say why! He then mentionned a special “Mall Tour” which started last week-end in Japan, and taking place in 5 big cities. There, visitors are be able to try out various Capcom games, including Dai Gyakuten Saiban: Naruhodou Ryuunosuke no Bouken.

The 5 cities are: Sapporo, Nagoya, Hakata, Osaka and Tokyo. Each of them have a special video made by Capcom, with Naruhodou Ryuunosuke and Sherlock Holmes welcoming visitors. All 5 videos are actually different, and Shu Takumi joked by saying fans should go on a city trip this week-end to see them all. He said he might go check it out himself “this” week-end (May 9/10th), in Osaka. Apparently, people who pre-order the game at those stores will get some special goodies.

Finally, he said that he would bring more new and stories as the release date for Dai Gyakuten Saiban: Naruhodou Ryuunosuke draws closer.

Gameplay footage

Yesterday, during a livestream, Capcom showcased the first 45 minutes of Dai Gyakuten Saiban: Naruhodou Ryuunosuke no Bouken. The footage wasn’t edited, as the game was being played live. Therefore, we got to see the actual game, which includes some animated cutscenes and more. You can watch the footage thanks to the recording below, but be careful: as it’s taken straigth from the game, it might contain spoilers!
