Attack on Titan: Shichi Kara no Dasshutsu – Details on gameplay systems, more

Unlike previous Attack on Titan games, including the one on Nintendo 3DS, Attack on Titan: Shichi Kara no Dasshutsu is an Adventure game. It features the usual event scenes that are commonplace in such games, and they allow you to learn more about the characters, and sometime see a surprising or unexpected side of them.

Below, you will find some examples of event scenes, such as one with Mikasa killing a titan, Hange escaping while carrying you (the player) under her arm, or you getting pretty close to Levi who just saved you (you’re covered in blood and spit).

In the game, the characters behave like they do in the original series. For example, Mikasa always looks calm even in the most tense of situations, and she’s always looking for Eren. Also, Henge is still as obsessed with Titans as always, and it looks like she will have plenty of opportunities to meet some in this game…

Next, Koei-Tecmo details the gameplay systems, starting with Break Time. During those parts, the characters are in a safe (and private) place, and you’re free to talk to them to your heart’s content.

You can chose topics to discuss, but you have to be careful not to offend your interlocutor by picking up the wrong choice. Basically, Break Time is when you get closer to your teammates, by talking about things they usually wouldn’t mention in public.

The second gameplay system is called Despair (quite ominous, isn’t it?). Basically, if you make the wrong choice, or end up in a critical situation, the Despair gauge increases. If the Despair level is too high, then you cannot make a sensible choice. You probably don’t want to know what happens when the Despair gauge is full…

The third gameplay system is the time-sensitive choices. In some situations, you will be forced to make decisions on the spot, within an extremely limited amount of time. Making the right choice in such critical situations will be key to escape from the castle.

Finally, the fourth and last gameplay system is the Inventory. That’s where all the tools you find during your adventure are stored. In order to be able to escape, you have to explore every nook and cranny, and use all the tools you come acros.
