Atelier Rorona Plus: Gust hopes to reach a new audience thanks to the 3DS

Atelier Rorona Plus: The Alchemist of Arland is a 3DS version of the game, which already came out on PlayStation 3 and Vita.

In an interview with Dengeki Online, Yoshito Okamura (Series Director) explained that unlike Square-Enix/Atlus/SEGA with Bravely Default/Shin Megami Tensei/Stella Glow (who are targetting players in their 30’s), Gust is actually trying to take advantage of the fact the 3DS is a console owned by a wide range of people.

Okamura explains that Gust / Koei-Tecmo are releasing Atelier Rorona Plus: The Alchemist of Arland on the Nintendo 3DS in order to try and diversify the audience for the series. And the main reason they went with a chibi artstyle is because the age demographics isn’t the same on 3DS (as opposed to the PS3 / Vita).

The series Director certainly hopes that players who were never exposed to the series before will get to try out this 3DS version of the game.
