This morning, SEGA announced that the next 3D Classic game to come out in Japan would be 3D Sonic The Hedgehog 2, on July 22nd. This version of the game will feature a “Ring Keep” mode, which allows you to start each level with 10 rings, and halves the amount of rings you lose everytime you get hit.

3D Sonic The Hedgehogh 2 will also be playable in local multiplayer (but Download Play is not supported, so each player needs a copy): you can either play with Sonic and Tails in co-op, or try out the VS mode. Of course, this version of the game will have a quick save feature, as well as the option allowing you to switch from the Japanese to the international version of the game, and vice-versa.
