Dr Kawashima’s Devilish Brain Training: Can you stay focused? releasing on July 28th in Europe

The Brain Age / Brain Training games were among the most popular on Nintendo DS, and a significant part of the console’s success is due to them. In Europe alone, they sold over 15 million units, which is more than many series. Unfortunately, the audience didn’t really move to the Nintendo 3DS, and so the series basically died after only one entry on Nintendo 3DS: Dr Kawashima’s Devilish Brain Training: Can you stay focused?.

The game was released in July 2012 in Japan, alongside the New Nintendo 3DS XL. In North America, players had to wait until February 2013. And in Europe, the game was originally supposed to come out in March, before being delayed to April, and then delayed once more to an unspecified date… the very week it was supposed to be released, despite it being fully localised.

Many thought the game had quite simply been cancelled, primarily because the audience for that sort of game had moved to smart devices and Nintendo may have considered it not worth it anymore to release it. And yet, the company never removed it from the list of upcoming games on its official website, and always made sure to mention it in its quarterly release planning.

And in the end, Nintendo is truly going to release Dr Kawashima’s Devilish Brain Training: Can you stay focused? in Europe, on July 28th to be precise. The announcement came out of the blue during the latest Nintendo Direct presentation (on April 12th/13th).

Here’s some screenshots for the game:
