Zelda: Legendary Edition – Omnibus re-release of the Zelda manga

Twilight Princess HD mangaIn the past, Nintendo has asked several authors to make manga based on the various games from The Legend of Zelda series, but none of them is as famous and popular as Akira Himekawa. This duo of mangaka have written one for several games, including Ocarina of Time, Oracle of Seasons / Ages, or more recently Twilight Princess.

Here’s the list of Zelda manga published so far:

  • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (2 volumes)
  • The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask (1 volume)
  • The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages (1 volume)
  • The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons (1 volume)
  • The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords (2 volumes)
  • The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap (1 volume)
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (1 volume)
  • The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (1 volume)
  • The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (prologue, in the Hyrule Historia book)
  • The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (on-going)

If you’re interested in buying them all, but don’t want to spend too much time hunting them all down, good news! VIZ Media is going to re-release the various manga as omnibus books, with two volumes per book. For example, the first volume of this re-release will include both volumes of the Ocarina of Time manga in the same book. Each book will cost $17.99 (United States) / $21.99 (Canada), and a new one will be released every two months.

Here’s the first two books announced:

  • Volume 1 – The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (United States / Canada) – November 1st
  • Volume 2 – The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages / Seasons (United States / Canada) – January 3rd

We can assume the release schedule will be as follows:

  • Volume 3 – March (7th)
  • Volume 4 – May (2nd)
  • Volume 5 – July (4th)
