Yo-kai Watch: the second movie to open on December 19th in Japan

The first Yo-kai Watch movie opened on December 20th, and it was a smash hit even before it came out with over 1 million tickets pre-purchased… an all-time record for TOHO (the distributor)! Since then, the movie has generated over 7.6 billion yen in revenue, making it one of the most successful movies ever in Japan. The DVD and Blu-Ray release will be on July 8th, a few days before Yo-kai Watch Busters (on July 11th).

Obviously, it was pretty much guaranteed that a second movie would come out this year… in fact, it was confirmed even before the first one opened! And in this month’s issue, CoroCoro magazine announces that this second movie will come out on December 19th in Japan… basically one year exactly after the first one.

This second movie will be called “Yo-kai Watch: Enma Daioh to Itsutsu no Monogatari da Nyan!” (lit. “Yo-kai Watch: Great King Enma and the 5 Stories”). Tickets will be sold starting July 25th in Japan and will most likely come with an exclusive medal (meaning fans should once again line-up to buy some), but nothing is confirmed just yet.

Unfortunately, we don’t know anything about the movie just yet, only that it will feature Jibanyan and USApyon (a new Yo-kai, and the partner of Misora Inaho, who is the new protagonist in the second season of the anime series). CoroCoro magazine should have more details about the movie in the next issue.
