Yo-kai Watch 3: some details about the characters and the setting
Yesterday, Level-5 announced Yo-kai Watch 3, the third entry in the very lucrative Yo-kai Watch series (which will be published by Nintendo in the West).
As opposed to the first two games, Yo-kai Watch 3 takes place in a city called St. Peanutsburg (in the USA), after Keita Amano’s father is transferred. Of course, even though the place isn’t in Japan, it is still filled with Yo-kai: those are actually quite different from their Japanese counterparts, but still as mischevious, it seems.
Here’s some examples of american-flavored Yo-kai:
– Dasocks: known for its redundancy. Even though it’s a snake, it has two legs (wearing socks). When someone talks while possessed by this Yo-kai, they always say one more word than necessary.
– Pinto Corn: it never understands what’s said to it, and always has distant eyes. It just keeps saying “Huh? I don’t get it.” When someone is possessed by this Yo-kai, they will talk of completely unimportant things, and have trouble understanding what’s happening around them.
– Nikuyaki: a Yo-kai that looks like a middle-aged man, and loves to eat meat. When someone is possessed by this Yo-kai, they will start treating people around them to some barbecue.
The game seems to have two main parts:
– Keita Amano’s story, in St. Peanutsburg, similar to the previous games;
– Misora Inaho’s story in Sakura New Town, which is like a Yo-kai Detective Agency story.
Of course, the game will have a brand new Yo-kai Watch, called the Yo-kai Watch U protoype, which is compatible with the american medals. Apparently, it has a secret feature (which has yet to be revealed)!
And finally, here’s some details about the new characters:
– USA-Pyon (voiced by Shigemoto Kotori): it keeps pretending to be tough, but actually hates being alone in its shop. When it talks, it just keeps adding “dani” at the end of its sentences. It was apparently the very first animal to be sent to space thanks to the NASU, which is where it met with Doctor Pyuri.
– Misora Inaho (voiced by Yuuki Aoi): she admits being a bit of an otaku; she’s quite the shy person, and doesn’t really talk much with others at school (where she has a relatively tough time, even though she doesn’t really have a dark personality or anything). She’s an avid TV watcher, loves sci-fi, and actually believes that everyone at school is being possessed by aliens. Her little brother is called Riku.
– Yuuka Ishinomori: she’s Misora Inaho’s childhood friend, and together, they talk about a lot of thing (even though she’s not an otaku herself).
– Kirara Hoshikaze: a rich girl always followed by two escorts.
Yo-kai Watch 3 will come out on Nintendo 3DS.
