Yo-kai Watch 1 headed to the Nintendo Switch on October 10th in Japan
A little over a month ago, Yo-kai Watch 4 was released in Japan. It’s the latest entry in the mainline Yo-kai Watch series, and also the very first one for the Nintendo Switch. And fans will not have to wait too long for the next one, because today, Level-5 announced that the first game in the series is getting a HD re-release on October 10th. It got a new title for the occasion: Yo-kai Watch 1.
We don’t know much about the game itself, other than it will feature improved graphics, in HD. It will allow fans to rediscover Springdale in a brand new light, and it’s also the perfect opportunity for players who have never tried a Yo-kai Watch game before to discover where it all started.
Unfortunately, the initial announcement doesn’t have any details about gameplay, and how it was adapted for a single-screen display (the Nintendo 3DS version made heavy use of the dual-screen and the touchcreen).
One thing we do know is that the Yo-kai medals are not compatible, which was to be expected: there’s no camera to scan the QR Codes at the back. However, the Yo-kai Arks from Yo-kai Watch 4 are indeed compatible, though it’s not clear what they do in-game.
Yo-kai Watch 1 will be released on October 10th in Japan, at retail and on the Nintendo eShop. Players who buy the game will get a Serial Code, to unlock McKraken in Yo-kai Watch 4.
Finally, here’s some pictures (including the boxart):
