Wargroove will have a weather system

Earlier this week, Chucklefish posted the latest development update for Wargroove on their official blog. This one is from Krakauer, the newest programmer, who came to talk about the very first feature they’ve been working on… the weather system!

Do you like it when your strategy games have that little bit of unpredictability, that makes each battle unique? If yes, you’re definitely going to love this feature. One time, favourable winds will give you that extra push to reach an enemy. Another time, blizzard will bog your units down in snowdrifts.

The weather can be both a blessing and a curse, and there’s no real way to influence it… you will have to learn to deal with it and adapt your strategy accordingly, on the fly… except in multiplayer, where you can disable the weather system altogether.

There’s three different weather types:

  • Sunny
  • Windy
  • Severe (this one is based on the map’s biome. It can be rain, snow, or even sandstorms)

But how does the weather impact your troops, exactly? Well, depending the type, it either give them stat bonuses or penalties. For example, wind lets boats move further, allows archers to reach more distant targets, and boosts the attack power of flying units. On the other hand, severa weather slows down your troopes.
