Unseen64: a look at DJ Hero – After Party (Wii)

What is DJ Hero: After Party? It’s a DJ Hero spin-off developped by Zoë Mode (a subsidiary of Kuju Entertainement), which should have come out on Wii as well as the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. Its development began in July 2019, when FreeStyleGames was wrapping up the development of the first DJ Hero game.

Zoë Module then got Leading Light (Christian Bravery’s own design studio) to make some concept-arts for the game, which would have been radically different from the first DJ Hero game with a more relaxed and laid back atmosphere (they were going for a more casual approach). Each of the show venues would have been based on after-parties.

At first, Activision gave them the OK and even allowed them to use the DJ Hero licence. Unfortunately, the project never went past the concept phase, as in October 2009, Activision rejected the pitch. That being said, some of the ideas were kept and used in DJ Hero 2.
