The Super Mario Bros. Movie grosses over 13 billion Yen in Japan

Toho (the Japanese distributor) has sent a new press release to share some more details about the performance of the Super Mario Bros. Movie in Japan. The company announced that the movie has now grossed over 13 billion Yen (roughly $93,754,440) in the country. It took the movie 12 weeks for it to reach that new milestone.

To be more precise, the movie has now grossed 13,097,323,520 Yen ($94,456,326) to date, with 9,167,349 tickets sold. During the past week-end (July 14th to July 16th), it grossed 135,203,890 Yen ($975,074) with 92 015 tickets sold.

As of this week, the Super Mario Bros. Movie is the 26th most successful movie of all times in Japan (it was ranked #27 as of June 25th):

  • 3rd most successful western animated movie (no change since last update)
  • 15th most successful animated movie (western + Japanese) (no change since last update)
  • 26th most successful movie (was ranked #27 as of June 25th)
