The Super Mario Bros. Movie grosses over 12.3 billion Yen in Japan
Toho (the Japanese distributor) has sent a new press release to share some more details about the performance of the Super Mario Bros. Movie in Japan.
According to that PR, the movie has now grossed over 12.3 billion Yen in Japan (12,343,782,830 Yen / $85,893,225 to be precise) with 8,626,870 tickets sold, up from 12,002,742,780 Yen / $84,585,849 grossed and 8,626,870 tickets sold as of June 18th.
During the past week-end (June 23rd to June 25th), 174,751 people went to watch the movie. It grossed 253,995,480 Yen ($1,767,407) during that period.
Toho also shared additional data about the movie’s performance in Japan:
- 3rd most successful western animated movie (was ranked #4 as of June 5th)
- 15th most successful animated movie (western + Japanese) (was ranked #16 as of June 18th)
- 27th most successful movie (was ranked #29 as of June 18th)
