Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS: new trailer highlights the Medal Challenges

During the latest Nintendo Direct presentation, in September, Nintendo announced Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS. It’s pretty much a portable version of the game, with some more or less significant differences. Make sure to check out this post to learn more about those!

Nintendo hasn’t mentioned the game once since it was announced, but today, we finally got a brand new trailer. It starts by introducing the main features of the game, which are more or less the same as on Wii U:

  • Play
  • Create
  • Share: unlike on Wii U, you can only share levels via local wireless. But at least, you can share unfinished levels with friends, so they can help you finish them.

But the new trailer for Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS mainly showcases one of the exclusive features: the 100 brand new levels. What’s interesting about those levels is that they come with Medal Challenges, for players looking for a real challenge… and truly challenging is exactly what some of them look like!

Here’s some examples of Medal Challenges to be found in the game:

  • Course 1-3: Defeat only Piranha Plans
  • Course 3-1: Reach the goal without releasing Left button on D-Pad
  • Course 5-2: Reach the goal without pressing the jump button
  • Course 9-2: Lure all the flying Boos to the goal

Here’s the latest trailer for Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS:

Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS (3DS) comes out on December 1st in Japan, and December 2nd in Europe and North America.
