SteamWorld Dig 2 announced for the Nintendo Switch, out this Summer

Today, during the Nintendo Switch Nindies Showcase, several new indie games were revealed… including the mysterious SteamWorld game that Image & Form first teased back in October (following the first trailer for the Nintendo Switch). And that game is none other than… Steam World Dig 2.

Were you dreaming of a sequel to the cult-classic on Nintendo 3DS? Well, you’re getting one, on the Nintendo Switch! The goal is pretty much the same as in the original: you have to dig deep underground in search of riches, but be careful of the terrors you will also unearth in the process… The game also uses HD rumble, for some pretty… intense digging action!

Here’s what the story of SteamWorld Dig 2 is all about:

In search of her lost friend, a lone steambot and her unlikely companion must dig deep, gain riches and explore an underworld riddled with danger. But time is running short…

Here’s the reveal trailer for SteamWorld Dig 2 (make sure to check out the Nintendo Switch Nindies Showcase for more footage):

And here’s some screenshots and art for the game:

Finally, for more details about the game, make sure to check out the official FAQ, as well as the latest episode of The Engine Room (where it is revealed that SteamWorld Quest is actually SteamWorld Dig 2!):

SteamWorld Dig 2 (Switch – eShop) will be released this Summer, in Europe and North America. The list of confirmed games for the Nintendo Switch and the Upcoming Releases page have both been updated!
