Splatoon: promotion video for the first North American SplatFest

The first SplatFest for North America was supposed to start in a few hours, but unfortunately, it has been delayed. On Twitter, Nintendo of America explained that during the Japanese SplatFest, an issue was found, which resulted in long waiting times (while some players simply couldn’t find any games).

Therefore, Nintendo preferred to postpone the first North American SplatFest, in order to fix this issue. Nothing’s been confirmed just yet, but it’s quite probable that the European SplatFest will also get delayed.

SplatFest are special events that will take place regularly in Splatoon. During those, players have to answer a question (like “Do you prefer cats or dogs?”), before joining a team depending on their answer. At the end of each SplatFest, the team with the most points win, so if you want to show people why cats are so much better than dogs, you better step up your game during Turf Wars!

The SplatFests last 24 hours, and take place during the night at Inkopolis (with some really cool stuff taking place). Everybody wear special t-shirts and dance on the central plaza, with messages of support for each team (from Miiverse) being displayed on noticeboards. The map rotation for the SplatFest include 3 maps, instead of the usual two for regular Turf Wars matches.

The first SplatFest will take place next week-end in Japan, on June 20th (it lasts 24h). Players will have to chose between Cats and Dogs as their favorite pet.

– Europe: 3PM
– UK: 2PM
– North America (EDT): 9AM
– North America (PDT): 6AM
– Japan: 10pM

NB: this SplatFest is only for players in North America, so unless you own a North American Wii U and copy of the game, you won’t be able to participate.
