Splatoon: Marie & Callie amiibo announced, new colours for Inkling amiibo, Splatoon Koshien 2017

Today, during the second day of the NicoNico Choukaigi 2016 event, Nintendo announced that two new Splatoon amiibo would be released in the upcoming months. They’re for Marie and Callie, the two Squid Sisters who sing non-stop for 24 hours during each Splatfest. If you’ve been following the hacking scene, you did see that one coming as files related to Squid Sisters amiibo were found in recent updates.

Here’s a video showcasing the Squid Sisters amiibo (the English version can be found below, after the break!):

The two figures will be released on July 7th in Japan, and will cost 1 200 Yen (+ taxes) each. There will also be a dual-pack, sold 2 400 Yen. Pre-orders will start on May 28th (which is the first Anniversary of Splatoon in Japan). It looks like by tapping the amiibo in-game, you can listen to the new songs from the Squid Sisters, which debuted during their second live yesterday (see the official recording below!).

Also, Nintendo will re-release the Inkling Boy / Girl / Squid amiibo, with a different colour. Just like the Callie and Marie amiibo, they will cost 1 200 Yen each, and will be released on July 7th. Pre-orders go live on May 28th, and you will need to be fast: quantities will be limited.

In Europe and North America, the new amiibo will be released on July 8th. Here’s what will be released:

  • Marie & Callie dual-pack [Europe / North America: $24.99]
  • Marie & Callie (stand-alone) [Europe]
  • Inkling Girl and Inkling Boy (stand-alone)[North America: $12.99 each]
  • Inkling Girl, Boy, Squid (stand-alone) [Europe, limited quantities]
  • Inkling Girl, Boy, Squid triple-pack [North America: $34.99]

Talking of the Squid Sisters, here’s the official recording of the second live (at NicoNico Choukaigi):

Finally, it was confirmed that there would be a 2017 edition of the Splatoon Koshien in Japan, with the finals taking place in February during the Game Party Japan 2017. More details will be announced at a later date, such as the time and place for the various qualification tournaments.

Head after the break for the rest of this post!
