Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice announced for Nintendo 3DS; trailer and screens

Back in May, SEGA announced that the two Sonic Boom games (on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS) had sold a total of 620 000 units worldwide. It looks like the 3DS game (Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal) sold enough for SEGA, who just announced that another Sonic Boom would come out this Winter on Nintendo 3DS.

Called Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice, it’s once again based on the Sonic Boom TV series. Just like Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal, it’s being developed by Sanzaru Games, and it will offer a single player experience with some collaborative elements. The main villain is once again Dr. Eggman, who will be accompanied by one D-Fekt (a new super villain) this time around.

As you can imagine, the Fire and Ice elements will play a central role in this game, with characters abilities allowing you to interact with the world. Apparently, levels will be designed in such a way that you will be able to speed through them, or instead take your time to explore everything carefully.

This new Sonic Boom game will come with “Bot Racing”, a brand new mode playable in multiplayer which is all about racing and speed. There will be several character-themed bots to unlock.
