Next month, Atlus will bring forth the apocalypse in North America with the latest entry in the Shin Megami Tensei series: Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse. Yesterday, the company revealed a brand new trailer for the game, which showcases one of the central elements of any Shin Megami Tensei game… demons!
Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse features more than 450 demons. You can battle with them, fuse them, fight them, recruit them, and more. Demon negociation adds a lot of depth, since every demon you meet isn’t necessarily something for you to kill. If you’re successful, you can recruit the demon, or you will receive a present from it.
Once a demon has been recruited, you will be able to summon it at any time during battle. Of course, they will get XP, learn new abilities, and acquire new attributes with every victory. What’s more, the protagonists can also learn new skills from demons.
Finally, there’s the Cathedral of Shadows: a place where you can fuse demons, in order to create even more powerful creatures. You can either follow recommended formula, or try various things on your own.
