Pokémon Sun and Moon – Marshadow

Yesterday, The Pokémon Company finally shared some more details about Marshadow, the mysterious Mythical Pokémon.

  • Marshadow

Marshadow

Known as the Gloomdweller Pokémon, the Mythical Pokémon Marshadow conceals itself in the shadows. It never appears before humans, so its very existence is the stuff of myth. Marshadow sinks into the shadows of others, and is able to copy their movements and power.

Marshadow is a very cautious Pokémon. It sinks into shadows and observes what is going on around it in such a way that no one else will notice it. This may be the reason why is so rarely seen.

Among the numerous Pokémon discovered to date, Marshadow is remarkably the first to combine Fighting type and Ghost type. Even regarding its types, Marshadow is an extremely rare Pokémon. Fighting-type Pokémon are usually ill-suited in battle against Psychic-type Pokémon, but now you’ll be able to take advantage of Marshadow’s Ghost type to battle effectively!

When Marshadow unleashes moves, he turns green (or at least, specific parts of his body!). He can use a new move called Spectral Thief, that no other Pokémon can learn. It steals any stats boosts the target had, and then launches an attack. One bird, two stones!

Spectral Thief is the “base move” for Marshadow’s signature Z-Move, called Soul-Stealing 7-Star Strike. When it uses it, it leaps out of your shadow and unleashes a flurry of punches and kicks.

As mentioned several times before, you need the special Z-Crystal (Marshadium Z) to use that Z-Move, and you cannot get it through regular gameplay in Pokémon Sun and Moon. More details and when and where to get that precious Marshadium Z will be shared at a later date.

Finally, here’s a video and some screenshots for Marshadow:

Yoshio Kubo exhibition

Yesterday, The Pokémon Company sent a press release to share details about a projection based art installation, created alongside Yoshio Kubo (a famous fashion designer). It uses a range of different sized mirrored pyramids and projections of Pikachu and Pokéball. Its aim is to deminstrate the various stages of fashion creation.

This installation was premiered at Yoshio Kubo’s catwalk presentation, though the general public also had the opportunity to see it for themselves at the Pitti Immagine Uomo.

The Pokémon Company points out that it’s the first time Pokémon has had a presence at such a high profile fashion event, and it was a tremendous success. It looks like we can definitely expect more collaboration with the fashion space in the future!
