Pokémon news (March 26) – Pokémon Sun & Moon to be showcased on JP TV next week

Today’s Pokémon news:

Pokemon Sun and MoonPokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon

Today, it was announced that Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon would be showcased next week (on Sunday, April 3rd), during the Pokémon no Uchi Atsumaru (Pokénchi) variety show on TV Tokyo. The following people will be there:

  • Junichi Masuda (Series Director)
  • Shigeki Morimoto (Battle Director)
  • Shigeru Ohmori (Game Director)

The show will have the first “TV aired footage”, but it’s not clear if official footage will be revealed beforehand or not. It’s quite possible we will get official announcement(s) before the show, but nothing’s confirmed just yet.

Pokémon Shuffle

Thanks to the official Pokémon newsletter in Japan, we already know about two stages that will go live next week (on May 29th), in Pokémon Shuffle Mobile:

  • Angry Pikachu
  • Zygarde 10% Forme

Battle competition

Earlier this month, a new battle competition for Pokémon Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire was announced: the 2016 International Challenge March. Battles started yesterday: you have until tomorrow evening to participate!

Here’s the rules:

  • Battles: Double Battle
  • Rules: VGC rules
  • Legendary Pokémon allowed (only two from that list): Mewtwo, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde.
  • Registration: from March 17th to March 24th
  • Battles: from March 25th to March 27th.
  • Reward: 2000 PokéMiles (all entrants) + the top players will also receive Championship Points (which will allow them to qualify for the Pokémon World Championships 2016, in Boston).

Pokémon Video Game Championships

Yesterday, Nintendo announced the dates for the Regional & National Championships (where players can try and earn an invite to the Pokémon World Championships.These championships are as follows

Regionals

  • May 1st: Adelaide, The Ellington (Hackney)
  • May 7th: Auckland (New Zealand), ANZ Viaduct Events Centre (Auckland)
  • May 14th: Sydney, Paddington Town Hall (Paddington)
  • May 21st: Brisbane, Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (Southbank)
  • May 29th: Melbourne, Collingwood Town Hall (Collingwood)
  • June 5th: Perth, Perth Town Hall (Perth)

Nationals

  • July 2nd and 3rd: Melbourne Park Function Centre (Melbourne)
