Pokémon news (August 2nd) – Pokémon Shuffle, new Pokémon, more

New Pokémon

Yesterday, the very first picture of the new Pokémon spotted at the end of the trailer for next year’s Pokémon movie (shown right at the end of this year’s movie, in theatres) was posted online.

Unfortunately, we still do not have any official pictures for this Pokémon, and it looks like The Pokémon Company is not going to reveal it officially any time soon…

Pokémon Shuffle

Today during the Pokémon Get TV show in Japan, a new pass code for Pokémon Shuffle was revealed: 07073180 (redeemable until August 28th). With you, can get an Attack Power item.

It was also announced that the smartphone version of the game, announced a couple of weeks ago, would launch sometime in August (in Japan).

Battle Competition

On Friday, a new Battle Competition was announced: it’s called the Pikachu Cup, and it’s only for Electric-type Pokémon (those transferred from previous games are allowed), with the exception of Zapdos, Raikou, Arceus, Thundurus and Zekrom. Registration run from August 13th to August 20th, with the competition taking place from August 21st to August 23rd.

This may look like a regular Battle Competiton at first, but there’s a neat twist: the reward players get for participating depends on Pikachu’s rank in the Top 12 of the most used Pokémon during the competition:

– #1 to #3: Pikachu distribution (it knows Endeavor, a move it can not learn during normal gameplay)
– #4 to #12: a Light Ball
– not in the Top 12: 1 000 Poké Miles.
