Pokémon Day

A new event has been announced for the game, celebrating Pokémon Day. Here’s the various features:

  • Pokémon encountered early in their adventures through Kanto will appear more frequently;
  • Raid Battles will feature bosses originally discovered in the Kanto region;
  • Pikachu and Eevee wearing flower crowns will be available via Field Research encounters and in the wild;
  • Shiny Pidgey and Shiny Rattata will appear.

Here’s when this event will take place:

  • Europe: February 26th (10PM) to February 28th (10PM)
  • UK: February 26th (9PM) to February 28th (9PM)
  • North America (ET): February 26th (4PM) to February 28th (4PM)

Smeargle

Heads up, budding artists: Smeargle is now available in! But the way to get it is quite different from most other Pokémon, as you do not simply find it in the wild. Instead, Smeargle will sometimes photobomb your photo when using the GO Snapshot feature; when it does, Smeargle will appear in the wild once you exit back to the game. And the photobombing isn’t just a fun way to encounter Smeargle: it will actually know the moveset of the Pokémon it photobombs!

Also, a new badge is now available, and requires you to get 1, 50, and 200 photos photobombed by Smeargle.
