OlliOlli World: retail release (code in a box) coming to select territories this month

Released earlier this year on Nintendo Switch, OlliOlli World is the latest entry in the OlliOlli series. So far, it’s only available via the Nintendo eShop, and a physical release is yet to be announced.

Today, Roll7 did announce that copies of the game will be available at retail starting later this month (October 28th, to be precise) in select territories (Europe, Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand). Unfortunately, it’s one of those “code in a box” releases, where the box includes not a cartridge, but a sheet of paper with a Serial Code to enter on the Nintendo eShop.

Here’s what the box looks like:

While this release will be of a little interest to people who want a “proper” physical release (with a cart and maybe even a manual), it’s good news for people who don’t want or simply cannot purchase games on the Nintendo eShop and/or collectors.

Given the popularity of the OlliOlli series, a “proper” physical release should definitely happen later down the line, once both Story Expansions are out. So far, only the first one, Void Riders, is available. The second one, which contains an entirely new biome, levels, characters, gameplay, and customization unlocks, should be released by the end of the year.

OlliOlli World (Switch) comes out at retail (code in a box) on October 28th in Europe, the Middle East, and Australia / New Zealand.
