New Nintendo 2DS XL Animal Crossing Edition

Next week, two new New Nintendo 2DS XL models will be launched in Europe. But that’s not all: next month, a new bundle will also be released: the New Nintendo 2DS XL Animal Crossing Edition, which includes a special New Nintendo 2DS XL console and a copy of Animal Crossing: New Leaf – Welcome amiibo.

Nintendo France

In an interview with Le Figaro, Philippe Lavoué of Nintendo France shared some sales data and expectaions for the French market. First: Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! / Eevee!. He did not share concrete numbers, but he explained that Nintendo was pretty ambitious for this particular game.

The Nintendo Switch sold over 1 million units in less than a year, and the company is expecting to reach 2 million units by the end of the year. The last quarter will be key, but things are already looking pretty good: they’re already selling 20% more games than last year.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is about to sell over 100 000 units in less than 2 months, and games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe keep showing up in the weekly best-seller lists. As for Nintendo Labo, they expect that 80% of sales this year will be from September onwards.

Nintendo Switch Family Showdown

Today, Disney Channel announced the Nintendo Switch Family Showdown: a contest where Nintendo-loving families can show off their skill in various Nintendo games. There’s two parts to the contest:

  • application period, where families have to submit an original video, explaining why they are the “ultimate Nintendo fans”
  • the actual contest, where 4 families will compete for a chance to win even more prizes. It’s a “fun and friendly” competition, with chalenges such as searching for collectibles in Super Mario Odyssey, competing in Mario Tennis Aces, and dancing in Just Dance 2018. Families who are selected will win a trip to Los Angeles, where the contest is held. There, they will be able to meet their favourite Disney Channel Stars.

The Nintendo Switch Family Showdown will be features on Disney Channel, Disney XD, and on the DisneyNOW app this Summer. More details can be found on the official website!
