Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

In order to promote Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Nintendo has partnered with Target from a promotional campaign in the United States. In over 650 stores across the country, the red bollards (designed to stop stray cars) at the entrance have been transformed, and now, Mario and Luigi themselves are welcoming you to the store. Last year, Target transformed those into PokéBalls, for the 20th Anniversary of the Pokémon series.

Also, the doors at the entrance now feature Mario Kart imagery, with motion sensors firing up flashing lights and playing Mario’s theme song when you enter the store.

Finally, Target decorated the shopping karts for the first time ever, creating some “Super Target Karts”. Now here’s something that should prove pretty popular with kids! Naturally, Target also have an assortment of Mario and Nintendo-related products set around the stores.

Speaking of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Nintendo is hosting a tournament at the Nintendo NY Store on April 29th. If you’re around New York on that day, make sure to drop by (if you want to participate, you will have to line up early!)

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Switch) comes out on April 28th, worldwide.

Splatoon manga

Splatoon was pretty successful worldwide, but it’s truly in Japan that the series caught on, with unprecedented popularity (especially for a brand new IP on the Wii U). The game got plenty of goodies and merchandise (including two CDs), and even some manga adaptations. One of them was published in CoroCoro magazine, and it’s that one that will be released in English later this year!

Yesterday, VIZ Media announced they would release that Splatoon manga in English in Late 2017. Unfortunately, that’s all we know about that release for now, as we don’t even know when pre-orders will go live.
