Nintendo Accounts: User ID and Child Accounts now available
Back in March, Nintendo finally launched Nintendo Accounts worldwide (a new cross-device account system, meant to be used not just on Nintendo consoles but on a variety of services), following a limited launch in December 2015 in Japan. Since then, Nintendo hasn’t made many noticeable changes (at least, not on the end-user side!), but today, two new features went live.
Those features are:
- Users ID: you can now set up a Users ID. That way, they will be able to log in on services requiring a Nintendo Account. Your User ID needs to be at least 6 characters long, and it looks like you can change it as many times as you want (for now at least). We can assume that unlike Nicknames, User ID are unique, which means you should get yours asap if you don’t want someone else to take it;
- Child accounts (for children below 13 years old): those are special accounts for children, that will be tied to your Nintendo Account. That way, if your child makes a purchase with the child account through a smart device app or over the internet, you will be notified via email, on the address you provided for your own account. A child account cannot be linked to a Facebook, Google+ or a Twitter account, only a Nintendo Network ID.
Thanks Pokémaniac for the heads up!
