Mario Sports Superstars co-developed by Bandai Namco Studios

Last week, during the latest Nintendo 3DS Direct presentation, Nintendo announced several upcoming games for the Nintendo 3DS. One of them is Mario Sports Superstars, a compilation of 5 differents Mario sports:

  • Football (soccer, 11 vs 11)
  • Baseball
  • Tennis
  • Golf
  • Horse Racing

Thanks to the copyright notice at the end of the Nintendo 3DS Direct presentation, we found out that Camelot was taking care of Tennis and Golf, but we had no idea who was working on the other three sports.

And it turns out that Bandai-Namco Studios is also working on Mario Sports Superstars, and most definitely working on (at least) the remaining three sports (Football, Baseball, and Horse Racing).

This tidbit comes from the website of the Australian Classification Board (ACB), who rated the game on September 1st:

Mario Sports SuperstarsBut since Camelot already released Mario Tennis Open and Mario Golf: World Tour on Nintendo 3DS, one might wonder how much content will end up re-used from those two games (other than the engine). It’s possible Bandai-Namco is working on all five sports, but using Camelot’s work for Tennis and Golf. Unfortunately, there will most definitely not be an Iwata Asks-style interview to find out…

Mario Sports Superstars (3DS) will be released in 2017, worldwide.
