[N-Direct] Mario Sports Superstars announced for the 3DS, pics, footage

If you’ve ever been interested in a Mario sports game, but not in stand-alone game, then Mario Sports Superstars on Nintendo 3DS (announced during yesteray’s Nintendo Direct) is most likely what you’re looking for. It’s not the first one, though, as Mario Sports Mix did come out on Wii a few years ago.

Mario Sports Superstars is basically a compilation of 5 full-fledged sports (not just mini-games!), featuring the following:

  • Football (soccer, 11 vs 11)
  • Baseball
  • Tennis
  • Golf
  • Horse Racing

What’s interesting about this game is that it seems to have been developed by several companies, studios. For example, we know that Camelot is taking care of Tennis and Golf:

Unfortunately, we don’t know who is developing the other sports.

Back to the game itself, Mario Sports Superstars can be played either in Single Player or in Multiplayer:

  • Single Player: Tournament Mode for all sports
  • Local Multiplayer
  • Online Multiplayer

Here’s some screenshots and plenty of artworks:

If you look closely, one of the screenshots mention “amiibo” card, which means the next series of amiibo cards will be for the Super Mario series!

Finally, here’s the segments from yesterday’s Nintendo 3DS Direct:

Mario Sports Superstars (3DS) comes out in Spring 2017 in Europe and North America, and 2017 in Japan.
